TITLE: Children's Assistant – Kendallville Public Library, Kendallville, Indiana

REPORTS TO: Children's Services Manager

WAGE: $10.00 an hour, based on experience

WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time (25 hours), day, evening, and Saturday hours as needed

SUMMARY: Are you a dynamic individual who loves to work with kids and their caregivers? The Kendallville Public Library is looking for a children's assistant to join our team.

Excellent candidates will be able to:

-demonstrate a strong knowledge of early literacy & childhood development

-develop creative STEAM and literacy based curricula

-develop cooperative programs between the public library and community organizations, including schools

-provide excellent customer service for all visitors

-work in a fast paced environment

-collaborate as part of a team

-adapt to changes

-know when to follow directives or take initiative

-multitask and prioritize responsibilities

-effectively use interview skills to best determine a customer's actual needs

-be flexible with a sense of humor

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates will need to be 18 years of age and hold a valid Indiana driver's license. A high school diploma is required (some college preferred), and the candidate must have a minimum of librarian certificate (LC6) or be willing to obtain required certification within a specific time frame. Basic computer skills are required, and knowledge of Microsoft Office software is a plus.
