Digital Library

Select Reads

The library has invested in Select Reads. It's an online portal to a wealth of information about our collection, as well as your favorite subjects and authors.

Here is what's available to you:

Reading Recommendations: Select your interests, and receive a monthly email with recommendations on books from our collection. You'll be provided with a link that takes you right to the catalog, so if you see something you like, you can place it on hold immediately.

New Book Alerts: Be one of the first to know what brand new titles have arrived in the library. You can view weekly updates on your computer, or choose to receive an email newsletter delivered directly to you. Your personal New Book Alerts includes book jackets, author information, book descriptions, and a link to our library's catalog, so it's easy to reserve a book.

eBook Alerts: As soon as a new eBook that you may be interested in hits the OverDrive "shelf," you'll know about it.

Author Check: This is a new way to connect with and track your favorite authors. You'll receive an email alerts when the library receives a new book by authors you've selected. Also included is a full database of authors and their books including author profiles.

OverDrive

OverDrive (online and available in a mobile app) provides eBooks, audio books and streaming videos in formats that can be transferred to devices like iPods, iPhones and iPads, Android powered phones, MP3 players, Barnes and Noble Nook eReader, Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader. Audio books can even be burned to CDs...which makes it easy to listen in the car.

Patrons can check out up to five items at a time, and have up to three other items on hold. Once a hold is available for the patron, they will have three days to check it out before the title goes back into circulation. All items are automatically returned at the end of the loan period (7 or 14 days, depending on your preferences), so there are no worries about late fees!

Patrons who would like some personalized help to get started using OverDrive are welcome to contact the Kendallville Public Library to schedule an appointment with the Technology Trainer through the library's Book a Librarian service. To schedule a session, contact LeeAnn DePew at 260-343-2019 or ldepew@kendallvillelibrary.org.

OverDrive for Kids and Teens

This site works just like OverDrive, except the landng page is geared toward the younger crowd.

TumbleBook Library

TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBook's animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.
