Staff Spotlight: Jane Scheiber

JaStaff Spotlight on Jane Scheiberne works at the Kendallville Public Library as an Assistant Circulation Clerk. But that’s just one of the titles that Jane has held with the library over the past 20 years.

She began her library career in 1986 as KPL’s Children’s Librarian. She resigned in 1992 to become a stay-at-home mom, but she couldn’t stay away. In 1994, she came back to the library as a Board of Trustees member. She spent 13 years guiding the library through many changes, including the recent building project. In spring 2007, she gave up that title to take her current position back on staff.

When she’s not at the library, Jane spends time teaching preschool for the Kendallville Parks Department, designing beautiful beaded jewelry or scrapbooking...probably pictures of her two daughters and their cats, Teddy and Max. Jane’s husband, Vernie, is a fifth grade teacher at St. John Lutheran School.

If you asked Jane for a book recommendation, she’d tell you to give Karen Kingsbury a try.

“I love Karen Kingsbury books because she is a very descriptive author and writes contemporary inspirational fiction,” said Jane. “My dream of meeting Karen came true on my birthday of last year when she visited Archibald, Ohio!”

Jane has a long history with the Kendallville Public Library. We’re all thrilled to have her back on staff once again and appreciate her years as a dedicated board member. Next time you stop in the library, you’ll probably see Jane waiting to greet you with a smile from the Circulation Desk.
