Catch the Reading Bug This Summer!
June 2 through July 11

It’s a great time to Catch the Reading Bug at the Kendallville and Limberlost Public Libraries. This six-week Summer Reading Program has reading levels for all ages and great parties to celebrate your reading success!

Children who are too young to read alone can participate in the Family Reader category. In this category, children should listen to at least ten books per week read to them by mom, dad, sister, brother or another caregiver. Independent readers are elementary children who are able to read basic books on their own...at least five per week. Teen and Adult readers can choose to read any two books per week they would like or take a category challenge and only read one book per week. Participants in all reading levels will keep track of their progress in a handy booklet, filled with reading records, programs and games.

Programs for children include hunting for bugs, creating bug cartoons, wheely bug races and more. Teens can learn how to cook with bugs, participate in a bug-a-thon and catch the latest Spiderman movie. Adults will learn that bugs can be a big help - especially in the garden! Every two weeks, those who have completed the reading requirements can come to an accomplishment party, complete with prize drawings.

Registration begins on Monday, June 2 and the Summer Reading Program wraps up on Friday, July 11. Stop in to pick up your Summer Reading Booklet and get started!

Sit back and enjoy an afternoon at the movies with The Spiderwick Chronicles, rated PG. Popcorn will be provided. Registration is requested.

Teen Programs:

Spiderman 3 Movie
Tuesday, July 8 - 1:00 p.m. - Kendallville
Tuesday, July 8 - 3:00 p.m. - Limberlost
Catch all the action of Spiderman 3 on the library's big screen. Bring a drink, along with a pillow and blanket, to get comfortable and enjoy the show. Registration is requested.

Accomplishment Parties:

Have you completed weeks five and six of the Summer Reading Program? If you have, you're invited to an Accomplishment Party.  The Bug Out Party will include balloons, insects, face painting, snacks and more. Participants will be entered in a prize drawing and will also recieve a great deal from the Fort Wayne Wizards - a free ticket, plus a free hot dog and soda!
