Share the Gift of Time...Become a Library Volunteer
Donating your time to volunteer with an organization is one of the best things you can do - for yourself and your community.
The Kendallville and Limberlost Public Libraries offer plenty of volunteer opportunities for anyone willing to share their time and talents. All ages can benefit….from teens who would like to beef up their college scholarship applications with volunteer activities to retirees who want to stay active and involved in their community.
Vicki Inniger is just one of the current library volunteers. She has a deep affection for libraries, and makes a point to visit the library in each city to which she travels. She has plenty of reasons for volunteering at the Kendallville Public Library.
“It’s a pleasant atmosphere,” she said. “I like volunteering to help an organization I appreciate so much. Plus, it gives me an opportunity to find books that I might not normally see if I’m just browsing the shelves.”
Volunteering at the library, Vicki said, is a fun, relaxing job in a great environment.
The staff can attest that the volunteers are highly valued and greatly appreciated.
A variety of opportunities await those willing to give of their time. At the library, volunteers can shelve books, deliver homebound materials, fill Wait and Read Baskets, sort Friends of the Library books, prepare program materials, help with housekeeping duties and even care for the landscape, just to name a few. So, what can you do for your library?
If you’d like to volunteer, call the Kendallville Public Library at 343-2010 or the Limberlost Public Library at 854-2775. You can also send an email to info@kendallvillelibrary.org. You will be asked to fill out a brief application, listing the days of the week and times you would be available and volunteer activities you may be interested in. You can also print the application form now.
